R&D Technician
R&D Technician
Start date target: June 2026
Mission / role summary: Support daily operations of cultivation and biomineralization pilot systems, assist the technical / R&D team in executing experiments, maintaining systems, and scaling up tests during the pilot phase. Provide reliable field support and lab-to-process interface.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain cultivation systems (open cultivation systems) used for mineralizing organisms.
Monitor growth parameters, record data, troubleshoot deviations.
Prepare media, reagents, buffer solutions, maintain chemical stocks and supplies.
Conduct sample handling, prepare and run basic assays.
Assist in experiments (e.g. dosing tests, kinetics, perturbations); collect and log measurement data.
Maintain sterile technique, equipment, manage consumables, and ensure lab / cultivation hygiene.
Assist with minor mechanical, plumbing, or electrical maintenance of systems (e.g. pumps, valves, sensors) under guidance.
Support installation, commissioning, and startup of pilot-scale systems.
Liaise with engineering, process, and analytical teams to hand off samples or process streams.
What We’re Looking For
Advanced technician level (e.g. “Technicien supérieur / Ingénieur technicien”) or MSc in biology, microbiology, environmental science, phycology, aquaculture, algae / marine biology, or a related discipline.
Prior hands-on experience in cultivation (algae, microbes, photobioreactors, marine systems) strongly preferred.
Good lab skills: basic analytical measurements (pH, conductivity, spectrophotometry, titrations).
Ability to follow protocols, be meticulous in documentation and data logging.
Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, ability to respond to unexpected issues.
Comfort working in pilot / field-like conditions (non-perfect lab), ability to adapt, physically present on site.
Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple teams.
(Desirable) Some familiarity with process control or automation basics (sensors, data acquisition) is a plus.
Why Join Bloomineral
Be at the heart of a climate technology moving from lab to pilot scale.
Work hands-on with real systems, not simulations. Your work keeps our technology running.
Join a small, fast-moving team where technicians are trusted operators, not background support.
Gain exposure to biology, process engineering, and pilot-scale operations in one role.
Work within the Paris-Saclay ecosystem alongside leading climate and earth science institutions.
Contribute directly to building materials that store carbon instead of emitting it.
We care more about curiosity, rigor, and drive than about checking every box. If our mission resonates with you but your profile doesn’t match every single line above, apply anyway. We’re building a diverse, thoughtful team and we know great people don’t all look the same on paper. If you’re excited about turning carbon into materials the world can build with, we’d love to hear from you.
