Director of Industrialization
Start date target / latest: ASAP
Mission / role summary: Lead the industrialization roadmap of Bloomineral’s carbon-negative mineral platform. You will be responsible for translating our validated biomineralization science into scalable, cost-competitive, and reliable pilot and pre-industrial systems. This is a hands-on leadership role wherein you will work closely with the entire team and external partners to ensure our technology performs not only in theory, but at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the industrialization roadmap from pilot to industrial deployment
Design and validate pilot-scale systems, including reactor architecture, process flows, automation, and instrumentation
Own process robustness, cost modeling, scalability, and reliability metrics
Lead scale-up experimentation and process optimization
Structure and oversee technology transfer to manufacturing partners or internal facilities
Identify and mitigate technical risks; lead root-cause investigations and corrective strategies
Integrate R&D, geochemistry, analytics, QA, engineering, and commercial objectives
Define CAPEX/OPEX models and align technical decisions with margin and carbon-credit strategy
Build and structure the industrialization / process engineering team
Participate in fundraising, technical due diligence, and industrial partner negotiations
Ensure regulatory, certification, and MRV considerations are embedded in process design
What We’re Looking For
PhD or equivalent experience in chemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering, or related field
Strong track record (10+ years or equivalent) in developing, scaling, and industrializing complex bio / chemical / mineral systems from lab to pilot to industrial scale
Demonstrated experience building or operating pilot plants
Strong expertise in process engineering, scale-up methodology, automation, and system reliability
Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams
Comfortable operating in early-stage startup environments with ambiguity and resource constraints
Strong strategic prioritization ability under technical and financial constraints
Experience working with industrial partners, certification bodies, and investors
Understanding of carbon removal, MRV, industrial mineral markets, or regulatory frameworks is a strong plus
Why Join Bloomineral
Lead the industrialization of a genuinely new carbon-negative materials platform
Work on science with real-world industrial implications
Be part of a tight-knit, interdisciplinary team that values company culture
Operate within the French ecosystem and collaborate with leading climate science institutions
Shape how carbon becomes a building block rather than a liability
We care more about curiosity, rigor, and drive than about checking every box. If our mission resonates with you but your profile doesn’t match every single line above, apply anyway. We’re building a diverse, thoughtful team and we know great people don’t all look the same on paper. If you’re excited about turning carbon into materials the world can build with, we’d love to hear from you.
