Mission / role summary: We are looking for a Marine Biologist with at least 3 years of research or professional experience (industry or PhD level), specialized in algae and/or coral systems, to join our growing R&D team. Based at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement (LSCE) in Paris-Saclay, you will work closely with our Head of Science and interdisciplinary team to develop and optimize biological systems at the core of Bloomineral’s technology. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys experimental work, data-driven decision making, and contributing directly to a technology moving from lab to industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Within the R&D team, you will contribute to:

  • Cultivation of marine macroalgae and/or coral-inspired biological systems

  • Optimization of physico-chemical culture conditions (pH, alkalinity, nutrients, light, temperature, etc.)

  • Seawater analysis, including pH, alkalinity, DIC, major and trace elements

  • Monitoring biological growth, health, and reproduction cycles

  • Design and improvement of experimental protocols and measurement tools

  • Data collection, processing, and interpretation to guide process optimization

  • Collaboration with geochemists and materials scientists on biomineralization workflows

  • Your work will directly influence the robustness, scalability, and performance of our biological systems.

Requirements / Profile

  • PhD or minimum 3 years of professional research experience in marine biology, algal biology, coral biology, or related fields

  • Strong hands-on experience with aquatic biological systems

  • Solid understanding of marine chemistry and experimental systems

  • Ability to work autonomously, with rigor and curiosity

  • Fluent in English (working language of the team)

  • Excellent communication skills: ability to document protocols, present to auditors / external stakeholders, interface across teams.

  • Highly self-driven, hands-on, capable of working at pilot / field scale under non-ideal conditions.

  • Experience with coral resilience, calcification, or biomineralization

  • Familiarity with climate or carbon-cycle related research

  • French language skills

  • Experience in interdisciplinary or startup environments

Why Join Bloomineral

  • Work on science that matters. Your research directly contributes to a technology that is changing the materials industry.

  • See your work move beyond the lab and publications. Your work translates into real, innovative industrial impact.

  • Be part of a small, fast-moving team where your work truly matters

  • Work in a world-class research environment, based at Paris-Saclay within LSCE, one of Europe’s leading climate and Earth-system science labs.

  • A culture that values rigor, initiative, and learning by doing
